*I was asked to write this for a college magazine. I was reading what I wrote and thought it was blog worthy. So here it is:* Somebody once asked me,
"Why did you choose music?"
"Isn't it more of a hobby?"
" You can make a career out of it?"
And yes, I admit I do have my doubts sometimes about my future in the music business. But then again, its not entirely about making mega-bucks, flinging around with top bands, secretly stealing money
LEGALLY from artists (yes we do.), or even sitting behind a desk booking flights and shows. Its about doing what you love and that just being in the industry would give you a sense of contentment. It doesn't matter if its The Prodigy's rave stints at a mega music festival or if its Willie Nelson strumming on an old guitar singing country tunes in front of a countryside cabin.

Some other great individuals started off with music. Young shepherd boy David played the harp for King Saul before himself becoming one of the great leaders and kings of Israel. It also can be used to heal wounded souls and bitter hearts. Corrine Bailey Rae used music to help her mourning of her late husband and now she is becoming one of the best soul musicians. Playing soft and soothing music helps calm babies down.
Tee JoweeMusic is a universal language. Africans drumming with animal bones understands music as much as the Turkish indie jazz scene. It is undeniably part of our everyday life. A day without music do not exist. Even the splashing of kids playing in a puddle of water or the honking of cars on a busy street can be music. It has always been part of my life and I guess its time to take heed and give back. Although my future in the industry is fairly uncertain, I hope and pray that music would have a spot for me in its green room.
p.s: This blog post is way way out of the usual Daryl-like-blog-post eh? It was supposed to go to the other blog but heck why waste a 'good piece of work?'
